Tetrapods are reinforced concrete products of volumetric configuration, which are used as barrier structures, to protect the shoreline from the destructive effects of coastal waves. The design of the tetrapod is 4 differently directed evenly spaced cone-shaped beams connected in one block. Hexabits are reinforced concrete blocks of complex geometry consisting of 6 prismatic rods connected at right angles to form a cube shape. They are used as breakwaters in the construction of hydraulic structures, to protect and strengthen the shoreline from erosion associated with the impact of water.
